UMES drops game two of the series to Sharks

SUMMARY

The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks were shut out by the Long Island Sharks, 12-0, on Saturday afternoon at Hawk Stadium.

THE SCORE

LIU Sharks (9-11, 9-2) - 12

Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks (4-19, 3-8) - 0

HOW IT HAPPENED

After a scoreless first inning from Richard De Jesus, the Sharks took the lead with a two-run second inning.

The third, fourth, and fifth innings were a pitcher's duel, where neither team was able to score. Although the Hawks loaded the bases after a hit from Champion Shipley in the bottom of the fifth, LIU retired the side with the go-ahead run on the base path.

Leading 2-0, the Sharks, spurred on by retiring the side with the bases loaded, rattled off nine runs in the sixth inning and one run in the seventh inning en route to a 12-0 shutout victory.

The Hawks totaled no runs on four hits and zero errors while the Sharks amassed 12 runs on nine hits and no errors

Jonathan Rodriguez, Amari Hackett, and Kedrick Alicea all went 1-for-3 at the plate
