HOW IT HAPPENED
Maryland Eastern Shore took the lead in the top of the first when Jonathan Gonzalez Perez powered a single to center field. Trailing 1-0, Central Connecticut State took the lead for good on two runs in the home half of the first inning.
After each of the starting pitchers kept the opposition from scoring from the second inning to the fourth inning, the Blue Devils expanded their advantage, 4-1, with a two-run fifth inning.Â
CCSU amassed one run in the sixth frame and another in the eighth frame en route to a home victory, 6-1
THE NUMBERS
The Hawks scored one run on six hits and two errors while the Blue Devils tallied six runs on 10 hits and no errors
Starting pitcher Richard De Jesus struck out two and gave up four earned runs in five innings of work. This is De Jesus' third consecutive start of five or more innings this year.
Relief pitcher Janluis Santiago delivered his fourth consecutive outing without giving up an earned run out of the bullpen
Gonzalez Perez, Darrius Brown, and Ansel Carson all went 1-for-3 with a walk. Gonzalez Perez leads the Hawks with 15 RBI this season.
