SOMERSET, N.J. - The Northeast Conference (NEC) tabbed UMES two-way player Henry Clausell as the rookie of the week on May 18, 2026. 

In the Hawks' weekend series against New Haven, Clausell made major impacts as both a batter and a pitcher. Offensively, Clausell finished 5-for-14 at the plate with a pair of doubles, a trio of RBI, and two runs scored. The freshman from Arroyo, Puerto Rico, recorded two multi-hit games in the series, and concluded his season recording multi-hit games in three of his last four games to finish the year batting above .300.

On the mound, Clausell recorded a save in UMES' 5-1 win over New Haven in the series opener. Across three innings of work and 13 batters faced, the freshman pitcher struck out one and did not yield a single hit en route to clinching the Hawks' most dominant pitching performance of the season.

Clausell is the third UMES player to take home an NEC weekly award in the 2026 campaign, joining Jonathan Gonzalez Perez, who won NEC Player of the Week in April, and Richard De Jesus, who won NEC Rookie of the Week and Pitcher of the Week in early March.
