Beccera Diaz bowls for gold at Colombia Nationals

University of Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Gabriela Beccera Diaz has continued to shine on the lanes and showcase her talents at the international level. 

The Cali, Colombia, native competed this summer in the Colombia National Bowling Championship in the U21 category and took home three gold medals for her efforts. Becerra Diaz earned gold in the women's all-events, women's singles and rounded out her trio of gold medals in women's doubles with her partner, Natalia Velasco Tovar. 

Beccera Diaz joined the Hawks this past January and made an immediate impact, helping UMES reach the championship round of the 2026 MEAC Bowling Championship. She finished the semester as the No. 12 individually for "makeable" spare conversion percentage in the NCAA with an 88.9% on 99 attempts. 

She bowled 459 complete frames during her first semester with the Hawks with the second-highest average per frame (19.39) on the team. She also finished the year with a strike percentage of 43.3%, and led the team in all spare percentage with a 70.7% on 263 attempts.
