HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – August 29, 2026 – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's volleyball team closed out the Alabama A&M Tournament on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Florida A&M.
The Hawks fell by set scores of 18-25, 22-25 and 19-25.

After dropping the opening set, UMES battled Florida A&M throughout a second frame that featured 11 ties and four lead changes. The Hawks held a 22-21 advantage late before the Rattlers scored four straight to take the set, 25-22.
Florida A&M carried the momentum into the third and completed the sweep with a 25-19 victory.
Karielys Melendez led Eastern Shore with 14 kills while hitting .303, while Rayah Howell added 10 kills on a .368 hitting percentage. Jayda Hutchins finished with 12 assists, while Kate-Linh Eden added 10 assists, seven digs and two service aces.
The Hawks leave Huntsville after earning their first victory of the season with Friday's straight-set win over Mississippi Valley State.

Maryland Eastern Shore returns to action at the University of Maryland Tournament next weekend. The Hawks will face George Mason and Hampton on Saturday, September 5 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, in Fairfax, Virginia, before traveling to College Park to face Maryland on Sunday, September 6 at 1 p.m.
