HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – August 29, 2026 – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's volleyball team closed out the Alabama A&M Tournament on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Florida A&M.
The Hawks fell by set scores of 18-25, 22-25 and 19-25.

After dropping the opening set, UMES battled Florida A&M throughout a second frame that featured 11 ties and four lead changes. The Hawks held a 22-21 advantage late before the Rattlers scored four straight to take the set, 25-22.
Florida A&M carried the momentum into the third and completed the sweep with a 25-19 victory.
Karielys Melendez led Eastern Shore with 14 kills while hitting .303, while Rayah Howell added 10 kills on a .368 hitting percentage. Jayda Hutchins finished with 12 assists, while Kate-Linh Eden added 10 assists, seven digs and two service aces.
The Hawks leave Huntsville after earning their first victory of the season with Friday's straight-set win over Mississippi Valley State.

The Hawks will face George Mason and Hampton on Saturday, September 5 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, in Fairfax, Virginia, before traveling to College Park to face Maryland on Sunday, September 6 at 1 p.m.
