Kyle Houts

Kyle Houts served as an assistant baseball coach at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore from August of 2023 to June of 2024.


As part of head coach Danny Acosta's staff, Houts primarily work with the Hawk hitters.


Prior to UMES, Houts spent a season at Ave Maria University in Florida. While at Ave Maria University, Houts was the hitting, catching and outfielder’s coach. During his time there, the Ave Maria baseball team ranked 17th in the nation among all NAIA programs, totaled a batting average of .306, scored 444 runs, hit 37 homeruns, as well as being the first time 10 years to make the SUN Conference Tournament, and the first time in program history to make it to a Regional Championship game.

 
Houts also spent some time coaching in the Northwoods League for the defending NWL Champion Kalamazoo Growlers serving as the hitting and positions coach. Throughout his time in the NWL, the Growlers collected 45 home runs, an OBP of .405, scored 493 runs, totaled 640 hits, drew 474 walks, had a total slugging percentage of .368, and a team OPS of .772.

 
Houts was also the Associate Head Coach at Lane College in Tennessee, a Hitting Intern/Youth Hitting Director at Driveline Baseball in Kent, Washington, and has been able to work alongside professional, independent, and high collegiate level hitters. Houts has implemented several nuances of hitting technology in day-to-day preparations along with helping with several impactful studies and data collection for the MLB.

 
Houts spent two years as a graduate assistant at Iowa Lakes Community College, while Coach Acosta served as the ILCC Head Coach.

 
Houts, who is originally from Spring Lake, Michigan, played his college baseball career at Calvin
 

University. He appeared in 89 games over three seasons at the NCAA Division III level, earning numerous honors including the 2018 NCAA Player To Watch.
