HAWKS HOLD LEAD FOR FINAL EXHIBTION WIN

PRINCESS ANNE, MD- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Fighting Hawks (2-0, exhibition) led the entire game tonight in a 84-74 win over the D.C. Explorers exhibition team tonight. It was the final exhibition game for the Fighting Hawks who take to the road next week to open their season at Northwestern University on Friday, November 22.

The Hawks had a strong performance from Junior Terrance Stafford (West Memphis, AR) who turned in a double double with 24 points and ten rebounds. Not far behind was junior guard Tee Trotter (Las Cruces, NM) with 17 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. "The Baltimore Breakthrough," Javes Wiggins (Baltimore, MD) came to play as well notching 16 points and seven boards for the Hawks. The Hawks also saw double figures totals from Ka'Reem Horton (Roxbury, MA) with 12 and Antoine Joiner (Hazel Crest, IL) with 11.

Darryl Prue who totaled 19 points and four boards led the D.C. Explorers. Eric Abraham had a double double against the Hawks with 14 points and 11 boards.

UMES out rebounded the Explorers 37-23 and shot a whopping 56.7 % from the floor to the Explorer's 50.9%. UMES committed 11 turnovers, too many for Coach Trotter. "We have to take better care of the ball," he said. "We played well, shot great, and rebounded great, but turnovers can cost us games. We have to be careful."

The Hawks take the road for their next game at Northwestern but open their home schedule on November 30th at 4:00 PM against Elon University in the Hytche Center.
