PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (6-29, 1-14) dropped the final game of the weekend's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference series to the Florida A&M University (11-28, 6-6), 16-2. The Rattlers scored nine runs in the fourth inning to secure the three-game sweep of the Fighting Hawks.

UMES surrendered a single run in the first inning on no hits and then another run in the second on back-to-back singles. The Fighting Hawks cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom half of the third as Joel Maher scored on Angel Bermudez suicide squeeze play.

However, the Rattlers blew the game wide open with nine runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth. In the fourth, FAMU recorded nine hits, five of them for extra bases. Corey McFadden recorded two doubles in the inning, scoring twice and driving in one. Elvin Millan also recorded two hits, a single and then a two run homerun to cap the scoring.

In the fifth, the Rattlers scored three runs on four hits, highlighted by Allen DeCambra's two-run single. Leading 11-1, FAMU's pitching staff continued to dominate the Fighting Hawk hitters.

In the first two games of the series, the Rattlers pitching staff combined to strikeout 23 hitters in 16 innings. David James went six innings allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five as he earned his first win of his collegiate career.

A.J. Patrick relived James and went the final three innings for the save. He allowed only one hit and struck out eight. On the weekend, FAMU pitchers recorded 36 strikeouts in 25 innings.

UMES will look to find the success they had during the middle of last week in which they split double-headers with Mount St. Mary's and Savannah State University. They will play a double-header at the University of Virginia on Wednesday, April 13th before returning home for the final home series of the season as they will play host to Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, April 16th and 17th.
