HAWKS' HOLIDAY ELLER EARNS MEAC VOLLEYBALL HONORS

Nov. 17, 2006

Hampton, Va. - Holiday Eller, the Hawks 6-0 sophomore outside hitter from Minnetonka Minn., was named to the All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Second Team at the annual awards banquet the MEAC announced last night.

The MEAC Volleyball Championship Awards Banquet was held on the campus of Hampton University, the site of the 2006 MEAC Volleyball Championships. There, the conference named the MEAC first and second teams as well as player, coach and rookie of the year for the conference.

Eller had an outstanding year for the Hawks, tallying 357 kills on the season and 242 digs heading into the MEAC Championships. She played in 105 games this season and in all but two of the Hawks matches this campaign.

"Holiday deserves this honor," said Head Coach Alex Temkin. "She played hard all season and really contributed to the team. I am glad that other people around the conference recognized her effort and her ability to really hit the ball," he added.

Eller's kill total stands second on the team behind freshman Caylin Woodward.

"Her contributions helped us tie for third in the MEAC, there is no doubt" said Temkin. The Hawks were pre-season predicted ninth. "This team really came together, I believe we have a few other players that could also have been All-Conference, we did some great things this season," Temkin added.

At the banquet the MEAC named Florida A&M's Maria Andonova Player of the Year, Morgan State's Romona Riley-Bozier Coach of the Year and Ivanti Bush Rookie of the Year. For a complete list of first and second team players visit www.meacsports.com
