CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. - ACC Power Boston College picked up a 10-2 win over Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday in a non-conference baseball decision in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The Eagles amassed seven runs in its final two innings on offense to erase a pitcher's game which limited both teams to a combined total of five hits through the first six innings. The Hawks picked up a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh, shaving BC's advantage to four, 6-2, on an RBI single by Eric Gaines (Oberlin, Ohio), who then initiated a double-steal on the basepath when Joel Gonzalez (Beltsville, Md.) scored. The next half-inning saw Campbell's three-run double to right center seal the deal on BC's 11th victory in its last 15 outings.
Seven of the nine Eagle starters hit safely, led by Michael Belfiore, who powered three hits on the day. .
Senior Dustin Longchamps (Greene, Maine) of Maryland - Eastern Shore allowed only three hits and fanned five in 6.0 innings but issued five free passes and three wild pitches, one of which plated the game-winning run.
The two teams will meet on Sunday, May 13 at Shea Field for a doubleheader, beginning at 12 noon.
