PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) women's volleyball team improves to a 19-8 record overall with their win over Morgan State 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-18). The Lady Hawks continue to stretch their lead at the top of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division, boasting a 6-0 conference record with only four matches left before the tournament.
Kills were spread around the Lady Hawks front line as Christina EstebanÃÆ'Æ'Æ'ÃÆ'ââ'¬Â '© (El Paso, Texas) put up a game-high 29 assists and Christine Edwards (Lakewood, Calif.) led the team with a game-high nine kills. Caylin Woodward (Garden Grove, Calif.) finished with a game-high 11 digs.
UMES controlled the first two sets, but saw the Bears fighting back in the third. The score was tied seven times before the Lady Hawks capitalized off of a Morgan State service error. Both teams swapped sideout points before UMES ended the game on a 5-0 run.
Ivanti Bush led the Bears' (2-21) attack, finishing with eight kills. Christa Rogers put up a team high 20 assists while Delissa Carline led the team with seven digs.
The Lady Hawks will stay on the road to face MEAC rival Delaware State on October 24 at 6 p.m.
