PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) women's basketball team kept their win streak going with a win over Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) rival Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) Monday night, 72-65, at home in the William P. Hytche Athletic Center. The fourth straight win for the Lady Hawks (8-9, 4-2 MEAC) is their longest streak in almost a year.

April McBride (New Rochelle, N.Y.) finished with game-highs of 22 points and 16 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season, ending just three blocks away from a triple-double with a career high seven. She also finished with a career-high four assists and is just six points away from achieving 1,000 points for her career.

Tiffany Reid (Philadelphia, Pa.) tied McBride with the game-high 22 points, setting a new season record. This marks the second time this season two Lady Hawks have scored more than 20 points in the same game.

UMES got their biggest lead of the day when McBride intercepted a pass and drove back up the court for a layup to put the Lady Hawks up by 13 with 11:30 left in the game. The Wildcats mounted an attack and tied the game at 57 all when Sarah Bolden finished off a three point play at the free throw line with 6:03 on the clock.

BC-U regained the lead for the first time since minute two of play on a layup by Demetria Frank. Reid would tie the game for the third and final time at 59-59 after grabbing an offensive rebound and putting in a layup with just under five minutes to play.

The Wildcats pulled within three points on two free throws by Jalisa Isaac with 55 seconds to go. But UMES hit 4-for-6 from the free throw line and held B-CU scoreless in the final seconds to grab their second straight conference win.

Four Wildcats finished in double-digits. Bolden had a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Jasmine Daniels had a team-high 16 points and Frank and Isaac finished with 15 points each.

UMES hosts MEAC opponent Morgan State University of January 31 in double-header action with the men's team.

The Lady Hawks are set to tipoff at 2 p.m. and have already tallied a win against the Lady Bears this season, winning 68-58 back on December 30, 2008. Under Head Coach Fred Batchelor, UMES boasts a 6-3 record overall, splitting the series 2-2 at home.
