PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Juniors April McBride (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Neal Pitt (Roselle, N.J.) earned the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Athlete of the Week honors for the week ending Feb. 8.

McBride, of the women's basketball team, helped the Lady Hawks to a 1-1 week with a pair of double-doubles. UMES fell to Coppin State Feb. 2, 71-69, at the Hyche Center and defeated Howard Feb. 7, 54-49.

McBride had 20 points and 10 rebounds against the Eagles in a game televised by ESPNU and followed that up with a 20-point, 13-rebound performance versus the Bison. She now has eight double-doubles on the season, including five consecutive.

UMES (10-10, 6-3 MEAC) is at Hampton 6 p.m.

Pitt, of the men's basketball team, had two double-doubles last week as well. He went for 22 points and 12 boards in a 65-48 loss to Coppin and after a 98-86 loss at Longwood Feb.4 had a career-high 17 boards coupled with 18 points in a 72-65 defeat at Howard.

The Hawks (6-16, 2-7) face Hampton following the front end of a women's-men's doubleheader.
