HUNTINGTON, W.V. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Basketball Team fell to Marshall, 74-57, inside the Cam Henderson Center. With the loss, the Lady Hawks dropped to 0-4 overall while the Herd moved to 3-0 on the season.

UMES outrebounded the Herd, 50-32, and outscored Marshall's bench, 34-12. Junior TeAmber Burke (Washington, N.C.) recorded her first career double-double, 20 points and 10 boards. Sophomore Mariah McCoy (Rock Hill, S.C.) added 14 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

Less than two minutes after intermission, the Herd went on an 8-1 run to give themselves the largest lead of the game, 52-28. Despite the deficit, Maryland Eastern Shore refused to back down. In the next seven minutes, the Lady Hawks outscored Marshall, 16-4, and cut the Herd's lead down to twelve, 56-44. Unfortunately, UMES could not get any closer as they fell, 74-57.

Other notable Hawk performances included senior Jessica Long (Fort Washington, Md.) netting 12 points and a season-high nine boards while Alexis Udoji (Randolph, Mass.) filled the sheet, posting nine rebounds, six points, four blocks in 34 minutes of action.

After two minutes into the contest, the Herd held an early lead, 8-2. Within the next four minutes, Marshall went on a 12-4 run to push their lead to double-digits, 20-6. Back-to-back layups from Burke helped trim the deficit, 20-10, with less than 13 minutes left in the half. Marshall regained the momentum by going on a 6-0 run, 26-10, but the Lady Hawks made another comeback. At the 8:54 mark, Maryland Eastern Shore trailed, 26-17, and looked to make another run before intermission. Towards the end of the half, Marshall's hot shooting down the stretch was the difference in the game as they ended the half on an 18-10 run to take the halftime lead, 44-27.

For the Herd, Leah Scott had a game-high 23 points on 9-of-11 from the floor. Norrisha Victrum added 17 points and six boards in the victory.

On Nov. 25, Maryland Eastern Shore returns to the Hytche Center before their Thanksgiving break as they take on Cheyney (Pa.). Tip-off is booked for 6:00 p.m.
