Feb. 16, 2015 PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Sophomore track & field athlete Khalil Rmidi Kinini (Malaga, Spain) and senior men's basketball forward Mike Myers (Camden, N.J.) were named the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Peninsula Regional Medical Center Athletes of the Week for the week ending on February 16th. Rmidi Kinini is being named for the eighth time this year while Myers is being named for the sixth time.
Myers contributed a pair of all-around performances last week. In the victory over Norfolk State, Myers picked up his sixth double-double on the year, putting up 18 points and 13 rebounds as the Hawks came back to win. He would come a rebound short of another double-double on Homecoming against Delaware State, but he led the Hawks with 23 points. During the two game, Myers also added three steals, two blocks and an assist.
Rmidi Kinini was spectacular once again for the Hawks track team. Competing on a team that took third at the MEAC Championships this past weekend, he was named Outstanding Men's Runner, claiming victory solely in three events and taking part in a fourth. Rmidi Kinini dominated the distance events, winning the mile run, 3000 meter run and 5000 meter run. He also ran a leg in the distance medley, helping the foursome to victory. Of the team's 108 points scored, Khalil was responsible of 32 ½ of them.
