Route 13 Rivalry renews as Hawks face Hornets

April 21, 2017

PRINCESS ANNE, MARYLAND - Coming off their greatest win this season the Hawks baseball team travel up Route 13 to Dover for a three game weekend rivalry series with the Delaware State Hornets. The meeting also holds great significance in terms of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division standings.

Maryland Eastern Shore will provide updates on Twitter from the official baseball page, @ESHawksBase.

This past Tuesday, The Shore scored their highest run total of the season in a 10-4 victory over the Towson Tigers in Princess Anne. Junior Jamison Trower (Chesterfield, Virginia) smacked three doubles and freshman Bryan Liriano (Rockville, Maryland) earned the win in his first collegiate start with five effective innings.

The Hawks are hoping to ride the momentum into Dover when they face the Hornets. This is the second and final series between the two teams for 2017, and The Shore has the edge so far, winning two of three in a home series April 1st and 2nd. After falling in the first game the Hawks rallied to capture games two and three.

In the MEAC North standings, Delaware State currently stands in second place while Maryland Eastern Shore is in fourth. However the teams are only separated by two games, with the Hornets at 7-8 and the Hawks at 5-10. Victories for the Hawks will help secure a spot in the upcoming 2017 MEAC Baseball Championship in Salisbury.
