HOUSTON, Texas — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore had a rough day of bracket play at the Track Kat Classic falling in three straight matches to National Tenpins Coaches Association Top 5 teams.
"Nothing went right today," head coach Kaylan Bandy said. "Our opponent averaged 227 the first two sets and we had no answer. The third match we completely checked out physically and mentally."
The Hawks (15-10) opened the day with a 4-1 loss to No. 3 Nebraska, then fell 4-0 to No. 2 McKendree and finished out the day with a 4-1 loss to No. 5 Arkansas State.
"We are going to take the travel day to process the finish and move on tomorrow to getting ready for next weekend," Bandy said. "Our physical development is coming along and we will get back to that as soon as we get back. As disappointed as I am in our performance today, I have to remind myself this was one of our better tournament place finishes with this group of student athletes. We have worked hard thus far preparing for March and it shows in our first and fourth place finishes so far this season. There's no time to feel sorry for ourselves. It's time to get home and get back to work. It will pay off."
Eastern Shore will return home to prepare for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference No. 1 meet Nov. 10-11 at Pleasant Hill Lanes in Wilmington, Delaware.
