Hawks to battle Colonels in second baseball weekend

The Shore to face Eastern Kentucky in four game series

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore baseball team continues its season this weekend with four games against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels.

All games will be played at Earle Combs Stadium on the Colonels' campus in Richmond. The series opens with a 10 a.m. doubleheader Friday (Feb. 22), followed by a 1 p.m. start Saturday (Feb. 23) and a finale Sunday (Feb. 24) at noon.

Tickets to the games cost $5 per day and live stats are also available.

The Hawks are coming off a 1-3 start against the Longwood Lancers. They won the opener behind the pitching of Dwayne Marshall (Piscataway, New Jersey), who secured MEAC Pitcher of the Week honors. Despite close play, they dropped each of the next three games. The Shore only conceded 14 runs but were held to nine runs by Lancer pitching.

Both teams previously met in 2016 in Richmond. Eastern Kentucky dominated the series for the most part, but the Hawks earned a 5-4 victory in the third game behind the pitching of Jason Marquez.
