Hawks Travel to Gardner-Webb for Weekend Tournament

Eastern Shore Will Play Five Games over the Weekend

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland The University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team will be playing in Boiling Springs, NC at the Red and Black Softball Tournament hosted by Gardner-Webb University this weekend (March 1-3).

The Hawks will be playing five games over the three day tournament. They will face Mercer and Gardner-Webb on Friday (March 1) at noon and 4 p.m. respectively. Saturday's games (March 2) will be at 4 p.m. versus Gardner-Webb and 6 p.m. versus fellow MEAC member South Carolina State. Their final game will be against Wright State at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning (March 3).

Eastern Shore is looking for their first win of the season this weekend after they had a good showing, but came up empty in the Charleston Southern Tournament on Feb. 8-9. The Shore was led by senior Breana Florez (Houston, TX) and sophomore Stephanie Huff (Montoursville, PA) in Charleston as both hit .444 during the tournament. Florez had a higher OPS for the tournament and was named the MEAC Player of the Week for her efforts three weeks ago.

After this weekend, Maryland Eastern Shore will be back on the road to play in the HBCU Softball Tournament in Atlanta, GA on March 9-10.
