PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team will play their final match of the season on Friday (November 12) against the Delaware State University Hornets inside the William P. Hytche Center.
First serve will be at 2 p.m. and the contest will serve as senior day for Marina Cruz, Stella Johnson, Alexis Lee, Tijana Korosec and Mauri Carver.
The match will be the second time the Hawks and Hornets play each other this season. DSU came out on top in the first matchup on October 1. Even though Eastern Shore fell in straight sets back in October, they had a point total in the 20s in each set.
Friday's match will also be important for both teams for seeding in the MEAC Tournament. The Hawks (12-12, 7-6 MEAC) are currently in fifth place in the standings. They are one match behind Coppin State and North Carolina Central. The Shore can climb to fourth place with a win and a loss by NCCU.
Delaware State is tied for first place with Howard. They will need Howard to lose and win against the Hawks to secure the one seed in the tournament.
The 2021 MEAC Tournament will begin on November 19 and conclude on November 21. All matches of the tournament will be held inside Burr Gymnasium at Howard University. The bracket for the tournament will be released on Monday (November 15).
