Hawks Face UNC Wilmington in Two Doubleheaders This Weekend

Eastern Shore Faces Syracuse after UNCW

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team will take on the University of North Carolina Wilmington Seahawks for a total of four games this weekend (March 12-13). The two teams will play doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Hawks are coming off a visit to Huntington, West Virginia last weekend when they competed in the Marshall Round Robin for five games. The team's lone victory in that tournament was a 9-0 shutout of Purdue Fort Wayne.

Eastern Shore's offense has been led for far this season by the sophomore tandem of Tatum Kresley and Julia Garcia. Kresley is batting .389 on 21 hits, which are both second in the MEAC, and she leads the conference in triples with three. Garcia is batting .356 and leads the conference in RBIs with 14.

Inside the circle, graduate student Nasya Goodman is off to the best start of her career as she is fifth in the conference in ERA at 2.72. She has tossed three complete games and has 17 strikeouts and just nine walks.

UNC Wilmington is coming into the weekend on a five game win streak and has a 15-3 record so far this season. They have been dominant on the mound as they have a team ERA of 1.84.

Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday's doubleheader will begin at 11 a.m. Following their games with the Seahawks, Maryland Eastern Shore will host Syracuse on Tuesday (March 15) for two games beginning at 1 p.m.
