PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore made the best of a bad situation picking three victories in five days over the last week, but will go for its fourth straight win on Saturday in Baltimore — against the same Coppin squad it topped Wednesday (Feb. 22).
The Hawks (8-17, 4-7 MEAC) will meet the Eagles (6-20, 3-8 MEAC) on Saturday at 2 p.m. as part of a men's and women's doubleheader.
"It's a quick Turnaround," Hawks coach Fred Batchelor said. "In a game that could have gone either way I thought we were more resilient than they were and were able to pull through. It is going to take a much better 40-minutes of decision making to get a win on the road. I thought, in the fourth quarter with the lead, we had four or five bad possessions that they didn't capitalize on. We have to do a better job of making decisions and still being aggressive."
The game is a key one as Coppin stands just behind the fifth-place Hawks in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference standings.
"To play a team that was the last team we played will be an interesting matchup," Batchelor said. "Going on the road to do it, you are down in someone else's house by 10 when you get in the door, so we have to play 10 points better than the last time we played them."
