GREENSBORO, North Carolina — In the final tournament of the fall, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's bowling team finished in a tie for third place at the first MEAC tournament of the season.

Across the two-day tournament of seven Baker matches, UMES finished the weekend with a 4-3 record.

Through the first day of four Baker matches the Hawks went 2-2. While the opening two matches went to Morgan State, 1,014-926, and Delaware State, 942-902, the Hawks responded with two wins to close Saturday on a high note. The Hawks capped the first day of the tournament with a 985-789 win against Coppin State before winding down the day with a 876-799 win against Norfolk State.

Brooke Driver posted game highs for UMES through Day 1 with a 235 against Morgan State and a 203 in the win against Coppin State. Mariana Almeida also crossed the 200-pin mark twice with a 205 against Delaware State and a 211 against Coppin State.

UMES continued its hot streak to start Day 2 with a 952-862 win against Howard before taking a fourth win of the weekend, 925-868, against UAB. The final match fell the way of host North Carolina A&T, 904-852, to cap the weekend.

Through Day 2, Gabriella Ochoa Hubbard posted the Hawks' highest single game pinfall with 230 in the win against Howard while Mariana Santos Rivero earned a 215 in the same match. Closing out the day, Ara Pitts and Santos Rivero each crossed the 200-pin mark in the team's match against North Carolina A&T with a 212 and 220, respectively.

Through four fall tournaments, the Hawks have gone 28-16 on the season.
