UMES Baseball Announces Schedule for the 2025 Season

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland - In anticipation of the 2025 campaign, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore announces their schedule for the upcoming baseball season. The season will consist of 30 Northeast Conference (NEC) contests and 51 overall games.

NON-CONFERENCE MATCHUPS

UMES begins the season on Feb. 14th with a four-game series against Virginia Military Institute on the road in Lexington, Virginia. After the opening matchup, Maryland Eastern Shore plays their first of two neutral site series, starting with a series against Towson at Meritus Ballpark in Hagerstown, Maryland. Following that, the Hawks have their home opener at Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex on Feb. 26 for the first leg of a home-and-home between Maryland Eastern Shore and Mount St. Mary's.

The Maroon and Grey will make their longest road trip in terms of miles of the season to end the month of February, flying down to Daytona, Florida to take on Bethune Cookman of the SWAC in a battle of HBCUs. The four-game series will be played at the historic Jackie Robinson Ballpark, which is the current oldest ballpark that is still in use in all of Minor League Baseball. The home of the Cincinnati Reds Single-A affiliate Daytona Tortugas and Bethune-Cookman baseball has operated since 1914, being named after the great Jackie Robinson in 1989.

Upon returning from Florida, the Hawks begin their longest home stand of the season with a midweek matchup versus Manhattan before closing out the stretch of four games at home with their first conference series.

In the midst of conference play, UMES will take on multiple local programs for midweek matchups. UMES plays a home-and-home with George Washington University, travels to Annapolis twice to take on Navy, matches up with UMBC in Baltimore, and completes their home-and-home with Mount St. Mary's with a trip to Emmitsburg, Maryland. Lastly, due to competing in an 11-team conference with an odd number of programs, the Maroon and Grey take on former NEC member Sacred Heart in a road three-game series in their only weekend non-conference series after the month of March.

CONFERENCE SLATE

Maryland Eastern Shore will take on all 10 possible opponents that they could play in the NEC for a grand total of 30 games made up of 10 three-game series.

The Hawks begin conference play with a three-game rivalry showdown at home against Delaware State on March 7. Maryland Eastern Shore closes out a stretch of seven home matchups in eight games with a series against Le Moyne at home before starting a streak of 17 games away from home. The road trip begins with a trip to Massachusetts to take on Stonehill followed by a road trip to Erie, Pennsylvania to take on NEC newcomer Mercyhurst. UMES continues conference action with a showdown against Coppin State in Baltimore. Following the series between the two former MEAC baseball schools, the Hawks play their second neutral site series of the season against Central Connecticut at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Maryland. UMES will leave the Chesapeake region to head north to New York for their next two conference series against Wagner and reigning NEC Tournament Champion Long Island.

Maryland Eastern Shore's final six conference games consist of a home series, in which UMES will celebrate senior day during game three, against Farleigh Dickinson and of a season finale against Norfolk State from May 15 to May 17 to close out both conference play and the regular season.

OVERALL

In 2025, the Hawks will compete in eight different states (Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Connecticut) as well as Washington D.C. The Maroon and Grey will compete within their 11-team conference to earn a top four spot and their second bid to the NEC Tournament in three seasons.

The Hawks have an opportunity to be one of the most improved teams in all of college baseball, and that chance begins on Feb. 14.
