Lester, Seawell Earn Spots on All-MEAC Teams

NORFOLK, Va. -- It has been a long, tough season and as the University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's basketball team prepares for the 2024 MEAC Tournament two Hawks are being recognized for their effort on the court this season. Mahogany Lester and Ariana Seawell have been named All-MEAC, as announced by the conference office this evening.

Lester, a graduate student from Virginia Beach, Va., earned a spot on the Second Team All-MEAC. She was near the top of almost every statistical category for the Hawks. She had a season-high 20 points in home contest against N.C. Central on January 27. She also grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds against Mount St. Mary's back on November 29. She recorded her first double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds against tournament top-seed Norfolk State last week.

Seawell, a junior from the Bronx, N.Y., was selected to the Third Team All-MEAC. She leads the Hawks in points (320), free throws taken and made (115 ... 88), and rebounds (180). She had a team season-high 32 points against Wagner on December 16 and her season-high 12 rebounds on December 2 at Seton Hall. She has collected five double-doubles this season. Seawell was also a Third Team All-MEAC during her freshman season (2021-22).

The duo look to extend their season on Thursday, March 14 when they help lead the #5 seed Hawks take on the #4 seed Coppin State Eagles in the quarterfinals of the 2024 MEAC Tournament. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m. at The Scope in Norfolk, Va.
