Hawks blanked by Wagner in Series Finale

SUMMARY

The Wagner Seahawks shut out the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks, 10-0, clinching a series sweep.

THE SCORE

Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks - 0

Wagner Seahawks - 10

(Wagner Sweeps the Series 3-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED

On a warm, sunny evening in Staten Island, Maryland Eastern Shore struggled to get any offense going against Wagner. The Hawks best scoring opportunity came in the top of the fifth inning. Ryan Howe began the frame by lacing a lead off single to right center field. Ryan Davis followed up that plate appearance with a sacrifice bunt to push Howe into scoring position at second base. Unfortunately for the Hawks, the next two batters were retired by Wagner's pitching staff, neutralizing the lone scoring opportunity. With the Seahawks up by five runs, Wagner plated five runs in the seventh inning to ice the victory in run-rule fashion.

THE NUMBERS

The Hawks recorded no runs on two hits and one error while the Seahawks totaled 10 runs on 8 hits and no errors.

Ryan Howe finished 2-for-3 at the plate. The graduate student DH recorded the only two base hits of the day for the Hawks.

Cade Williams pitched a season-high four innings on the mound. His previous high was three innings against Delaware State on March 8, 2025.

UP NEXT

With this loss, the Hawks slide to 4-31 (3-18) on the season. UMES will look to snap their losing streak on Tuesday against George Washington. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex.
