Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks - 4

HOW IT HAPPENED

On a warm, sunny day in Salisbury, Maryland, the Revolutionaries took advantage of walks and an error to take a two-run lead at the end of the first. After a scoreless second inning by Tyler Prather on the mound, the Maroon and Grey generated their first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning. Julian Jimenez led off the frame by slashing a double to center field and by reaching third base on an error by the George Washington pitcher. Michael Blackiston capitalized on the scoring opportunity by blooping an RBI single to right field to drive in Jimenez, diminishing George Washington University's lead to just one run.

The Revolutionaries responded with a four-run third inning, highlighted by a bases-clearing triple. The Revs went on to tack on one run in the fifth frame and two runs in the sixth frame to take a commanding lead.

Regardless of the deficit, the Hawks displayed a good stretch of power hitting in the bottom of the seventh. On two consecutive pitches, Jonathan Rodriguez and Ansel Carson smoked baseballs over the left center field wall for back-to-back home runs. Following the two-run seventh frame, the Hawks kept up their momentum into the eighth inning. With runners on the corners, Christian Azcona drilled a line drive just past the outstretched glove of the George Washington second baseman for an RBI single that drove in Jimenez. Although the Hawks had some bright spots on offense, the Revolutionaries recorded the final few outs to close out a road victory, 10-4.
