The University of Maryland Eastern Shore opens spring season with eighth place finish

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's golf team opened up the spring season with a eighth place finish at the Battle of the Beach in Pawley's Island, South Carolina over the weekend.

UMES SCORING

Playing at the Pawley's Golf & Country Club in a event shortened to 36 holes due to wet and rainy conditions, the Hawks combined for team scores of 332 and 331 for a two day total of 663 and a tie for eighth place in the 13-team event. Freshman Bushra Fatima placed 20th in individual competition with rounds of 83 and 78. TinYan Liu was 34th in the standings with scores of 79 and 86. Pearl Omaruaye was in 36th with rounds of 82 and 84. Alysa Davis came in 49th with scores of 88 and 83 while Charlene Pak recorded rounds of 91 and 88 to finish in 59th place.

NEXT TOURNAMENT

The Hawks are scheduled for a quick turnaround and will play at the Howard University Bison Invitational beginning on Monday, March 2 in Gainesville, Florida.
