HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
After two scoreless innings from Elijah Benton, Julian Jimenez homered to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the third inning. In the following frame, Darrius Brown tripled in two more runs to put UMES ahead by three.
Navy responded by scoring six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and an additional run in the fifth to cement a 7-3 advantage.Â
Neither team scored the rest of the way en route to a midweek victory for the Midshipmen.
THE NUMBERS
The Hawks finished with three runs on nine hits and no errors while the Midshipmen tallied seven runs on eight hits and no errors
Benton, Carter Champey, and Henry Clausell all posted scoreless outings on the mound
Brown paced the UMESÂ in hits, finishing 4-for-5 at the plate with a team-high two RBI. He also set his new season-high for hits
Jimenez recorded a three-hit game and his fourth home run of the season. Jimenez is now second on the team in homers
