Altamonte Springs, FL - The season came to an end for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) Women's Tennis Team at the MEAC Championships, as did the careers of seniors Vicky White and Sivonne Lynn. The Lady Hawks fell to Coppin State and Delaware State to close out their year.
In the first match the Lady Eagles of Coppin State defeated the UMES 4-0 while the Lady hawks then had to face the Lady Hornets of Delaware State. DSU swept the Lady Hawks 5-0. Being the last match of the season UMES left it all on the court.
In doubles action the team of Vicky White and Janelle Brown-Niles fell 8-3 while Amanda Rippen and Sivonne Lynn fell by the same score. Victoria B. Wilson and Reva Campbell picked up a win in their doubles action but the two losses gave DSU the point.
Wilson got another win in singles action but that was the only one as DSU took the contest. White fell in the #1 match 6-2, 6-1. In another great match Rippen was defeated 6-2, 6-4. Randa Gasque and Brown-Niles had solid singles outing, both scoring on their opponents.
Although the season ends, the Hawks prepare for the next one starting in September. As always, they will play with Hawk Pride.
