PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's tennis team will open its 2020 campaign this Saturday (Feb. 22) against St. Francis Brooklyn in Flushing Meadows, New York.
The Hawks are scheduled to play 17 matches this season. Eastern Shore boast a roster of eight players this season led by senior captain Michal Kittrell (Ponchatoula, Louisiana) and junior Sarah Adewumi (Phoenix, Arizona).
The squad also has four new players in the program this year. Maryland Eastern Shore has a trio of freshmen in Lauren Williamson (Chicago, Illinois), Rhun'e Liverpool (Brooklyn, New York) and Akosua Yeboah (Upper Marlboro, Maryland), along with sophomore Jordan Kelly (Bridgeton, New Jersey) who was a member of the softball team last year.
Following Saturday's match, The Shore will face Eastern Michigan on Sunday (Feb. 23) in Brooklyn for a neutral site contest. The Hawks will play their first home match on March 28 against Morgan State. Home matches for the team will be played at the Bay Country Racquet Club in Cambridge.
