HAWK TENNIS SHUT OUT BY NORFOLK STATE

Princess Anne, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Tennis Team took on the Lady Spartans of Norfolk State University (NSU) today in tennis action falling 7-0 to drop to 0-2 on the season.

The Lady Hawks got a solid performance from newcomers Nadia Flores Hernandez and Aissatou Ba who both fell 6-1, 6-1. Fatoumata Ba was knocked off 6-1, 6-0 while returner Kyndall Chapman fell 6-0, 6-0 at the number four singles spot. Tonaio Swangin had one of the best outings of the day taking on NSU's Fame Goudy but couldn't pull out the win, 6-1, 6-2. In the number six singles match Yamada Dorsey fell 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles action the Lady Hawks were defeated in all three outings as Flores Hernandez and Aissatou Ba were defeated by Jennifer Itonyo and Fiorella Valdivia 8-2, Swangin and Chapman were downed 8-0 and Dorsey and Fatoumata Ba were defeated by Goudy and her partner 8-1.

UMES is done with their fall season and takes the court again on February 23, 2006 at the MEAC Round-Up.
