DOVER, DEL. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) women's tennis team dropped a match Sunday to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) rival Delaware State on Sunday, Oct. 2. DSU won the match by a score of 4-3.
In the #1 singles spot, senior Jannie Jacob defeated Nadia Flores 6-1, 6-1. Yamada Dorsey put up match points as she defeated Yvonne Dennis 7-6, 6-4. In a tough #4 singles match Kyndall Chapman took out Anikka Ahmed 3-6, 7-6, 6-4. Victoria Wilson also played well as she defeated Jennifer Dailey 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Dorsey paired with Fatoumata Ba in the #3 doubles and won the match 8-5. The Hawks lost two of the three doubles matches and dropped wound up the entire contest to the Lady Hornets by one point.
The Lady Hawks look to regroup as they take on Norfolk State in a home match on Oct. 5 at 2:00pm.
