ORLANDO, FL. The UMES Lady Hawks put up a fight but lost a close 4-3 contest against Coppin State on February 25.
In the number one singles match, Nadia Flores Hernandez lost 6-1, 6-1 to CSU's Andrea Apostu. Aissatou Ba narrowly lost the number two singles match to Kyana Beckles, 6-4, 7-5. Gabrielle Spence took down Fatoumata Ba in the third spot, 6-3, 6-3.
Haaveshe Sawyer won her matchup in the four spot against Mary Dogo-Isonagie, 8-6, while Yamada Dorsey also picked up a win when she defeated Coppin's Amatul Bean 8-2. Obehioye Okojie won the six spot by default, 8-0.
In the number one match in doubles action, Apostu and Beckles took down Flores and A. Ba 8-4 while Spence and Dogo defeated Kyndall Chapman and F. Ba, 8-6. Dorsey and Sawyer were successful in the three spot, winning their match 8-0 by default.
