Box Score

PRINCESS ANNE, MD - La Salle took both games of a softball doubleheader Friday afternoon over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), 7-0 and 9-0 at Hawks Field in Princess Anne, Md.

La Salle (7-7) took an early 3-0 lead in game one after Michelle Sullivan's fielder's choice plated Kelli Curcio. Teddi Hernandez' single later in the inning sent Sullivan and Laura Dezolt home, who got on base after capitalizing on an error by the Lady Hawk outfield.

The Explorers added two more runs in the third and another pair in the fifth after Angelina Bisbiglia hit a center field home run to plate her and Sullivan.

La Salle held a 7-0 lead at the top of the fifth but UMES managed to stretch the game to seven innings after Hernandez grounded out for the third out that stanza.

UMES (2-11) got a hit from Shakeyah Habib and Tiana Strother while the Explorers were paced by 2-3 outings from Hernandez and Sullivan. Hernandez also drove in a game high three RBI.

In the second game of the afternoon, La Salle scored five runs in the first inning when Sullivan and Jen Street each singled and picked up a pair of RBI for the Explorers.

La Salle plated four more runs in the third and were spurred by another Bisbiglia home run that sent two across the plate the same inning. A Hernandez double later scored Vinnie Caputo and Megan Berry and gave the Explorers the 9-0 lead after three.

Jaleesa Lewis and Mishayla Truttman each finished 1-2 for the Hawks in the decision. Sullivan and Bisbiglia both went 2-2 with two RBI for La Salle.

UMES returns to action tomorrow with a home non-conference doubleheader against Bucknell at 2:00pm.
