RODRIGUEZ, FOTHERGILL NAMED UMES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Junior Maria Rodriguez (Ibague Tolima, Colombia) and senior Allodin Fothergill (New Hempstead, N.Y.) have been named University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the period ending April 11.

Rodriguez, of the women's bowling team, helped the Lady Hawks to a fifth-place finish in the NCAA Tournament Brunswick Zone Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick, N.J.

She posted the second highest individual pinfall in the tournament during the qualifying round Thursday with 1,546 to help UMES earn the six seed. Rodriguez also recorded the game-winning strike in a Baker win against No. 2 Vanderbilt on Friday.

UMES (103-37) next bowls in El Paso, Texas, at the USBC ITC Championships April 14-17. Fothergill, of the men's track team, won two events at the George Mason Spring Invitational in Fairfax, Va.

He won the 100 and 200 meters in times of 10.67 and 21.42, respectively.

Fothergill was named Athlete of the Week for the second straight week.

UMES next runs at the Morgan State Legacy Meet in Baltimore, Md., April 16-17.
