UMES DROPS TENNIS MATCHES TO RIVAL DELAWARE STATE

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) men and women's tennis team each dropped a conference match to rival Delaware State University (DSU) by the score of 6-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets picked up the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) wins to drop the Lady Hawks to 0-14 (0-5 MEAC) and the Fighting Hawks to 1-10 (1-4 MEAC).

The Hawks picked up both points by default as Jon Toms and Anna Katenta won for the men and women respectively.

Emmash Sudusinghe played well at No. 3 singles, falling 6-2, 6-2 to Roman Pitatelev while teammate Osvaldo Rivera continued his hot play, falling 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 singles to Andrew Fillman. Toms and Richard Warren picked up a win at No. 3 doubles by default.

On the women's side Solana McMillan fell at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1 to Cristina Pires while Kira Chapman and Samantha Pickard won at No. 3 doubles by default.

The match marked the end of the conference season for the Hawks. They host Wesley on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in their final home match of the season and travel to Coppin State on April 10 for a non-conference contest at 2 p.m.
