HAWKS DEFEATED IN ROAD MATCH AGAINST TOWSON 7-0

TOWSON, Md. -- The Hawks tried to prevent Towson from winning their 10th match of the season, but fell on the road to the Tigers 7-0 on Monday. UMES falls to 2-10 on the season after the non-conference defeat.

In the third position, Paula Vilas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) gave a challenge to Ariel Burke in the third spot, taking two games in the first set in a 2-6, 0-6 loss.

Solana McMillan (Teaneck, N.J.) and Shamara McKenzie (Neptune, N.J.) fought well in their singles matches, but saw defeat in the first position against Aandria Carr and second position Nisha Shah respectively 0-6, 1-6.

The sixth position saw Angelica Johnson (Bryans Road, Md.) earn a game, but she fell to Jessi Grim 1-6, 0-6.

UMES fell in the other two singles matches 0-6, 0-6 and each doubles match 0-8 to Towson.

The Hawks will continue non-conference play tomorrow as they take on Salisbury on the road at 3:00 p.m.
