UMES FALLS IN ROUTE 13 SHOWDOWN TO SALISBURY 8-1

Final Stats

SALISBURY, Md. -- In a match of Eastern Shore rivals, the Hawks fell to the Sea Gulls of Salisbury 8-1 on the road on Tuesday. UMES goes to 2-11 this season.

In the first singles match, Solana McMillan (Teaneck, N.J.) lost a close first set to Jillian Poppe, however took the point after her opponent retired 5-7, 0-5.

Arshell Jackson (Easton, Md.) played well in the fifth position, taking a duo of games in each set, but was defeated by Amy Matonak 2-6, 2-6. Angelica Johnson (Bryans Road, Md.) won two games against Jessica Babyak, but fell 1-6, 1-6 in the sixth spot.

The Sea Gulls took the rest of the singles matches and each doubles competition.

UMES will look to regroup with a MEAC match against Hampton on Saturday, April 9th at home at 1:00 p.m.
