BALTIMORE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's tennis team was swept, 5-0, by Morgan State at Mervo High School on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Hawks were unable to tally a point in the match as the squad was blanked in both singles and doubles play. With the loss, UMES moves to 0-8 on the season, while Morgan State improves to 10-13.
UMES opened the match with four consecutive losses in singles. Freshman Reine Fowajuh (Wilmington, Del.) lost 6-0, 6-0 at No.1, before freshman Jasmine Jennings (Halifax, Va.) lost by the same score at No. 2. Senior Kenesha Abrams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) fell by the same result at No. 3 and senior Karona Roach (Bear, Del.) opened up her collegiate career with consecutive 6-0 losses.
Fowajuh and Abrams lost 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, while Roach and Jennings lost 8-0 at second doubles.
