Final Stats
HAMPTON, Va. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision at Hampton on Saturday at the Neilson-Screen Tennis Courts. The Hawks were swept in singles and doubles action.
UMES (0-7) was no match for Hampton in the contest at the Lady Pirates cruised to the victory. Freshman Reine Fowajuh (Wilmington, Del.) began with a 6-0, 6-0 loss at No. 1 singles, before freshman Jasmine Jennings (Halifax, Va.) dropped her contest by the same score at second singles. UMES was defeated at No. 3 and No. 4 as senior Kenesha Abrams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and senior Valentina Collazos (Cali, Colombia) were each blanked.
The women struggled in the doubles portion as well. Fowajuh and Jennings teamed up to fall 8-0 at top doubles and Collazos and Abrams lost 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
The women look to get in the win column when they travel to the Naval Academy on Wednesday, April 10 at 3 p.m.
