SALISBURY, Md. -- University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) junior volleyball player Petra Jerabkova (Prague, Czech Republic) joined the women's tennis team as a late add-on to fill a void on their roster. Unfortunately, her efforts were not enough as the team suffered a sweep at the hands of the Towson Tigers in their season debut. Jerabkova, playing in the 4th position was defeated by Towson's Belen Lizana in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0.

Sophomore Reine Fowajuh (Wilmington, Del.) was also defeated, 6-0 and 6-0, and junior Jasmine Jennings (Halifax, Va.) and freshman Selena Jones (Pocomoke City, Md.) were defeated in straight sets by the same scores. The double teams of Fowajuh/Jennings and Jones/Jerabkova each fell as well by scores of 8-0.

UMES will open the season at 0-1, while Towson improves to 4-1 on the season.

The Lady Hawks will travel to Dover on Friday to square off against Delaware State University. Match time is set for 1:00p.m. The team's first home match will be against Stevenson University on March 5th.
