WASHINGTON & EMMITSBURG, Md.- In the morning, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Tennis Team opened conference play against the Howard Lady Bison. The club dropped the match, 7-0. In the afternoon, the Lady Hawks traveled to Emmitsburg, Md. to take on Mount St. Mary's. The squad fell to the Mount, 7-0.
With both setbacks, UMES moved to 0-5 overall.
Against the Mount, Petra Jerabkova (Prague, Czech Republic) scored a point against Mount St. Mary's No. 1 Erin Benefil before falling (6-1, 6-0). DaTonya Price (Baltimore) tallied two points in her match (6-1, 6-1) and Alese Brown (Charleston, S.C.) and Melequa King (Forestville, Md.) added a point as well, 8-1.
On March 27, the Lady Hawks goes to Baltimore to take on the Coppin State Eagles. Match begins at 10 a.m. Then, they will meet the Norfolk State Spartans in a neutral site match. First-serve at 3 p.m.
