HAMPTON, Va. -- In their third consecutive match in three days, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Tennis Team fell to the Hampton Lady Pirates, 6-1. With the loss, UMES dropped to 0-10 (0-4 MEAC) whereas Hampton improved to 1-10 (1-2 MEAC) on the season.
Yesterday, the squad went four hours against Virginia Wesleyan before falling to the Marlins, 4-3. The club came into the match sluggish and the Lady Pirates took advantage. In doubles play, both teams lost 8-0, respectively.
In singles, Melequa King (Forestville, Md.) served as the team's No. 1 and tallied two points in her match (6-2, 6-0). DaTonya Price (Baltimore) and Reine Fowajuh (Wilmington, Del.) also registered two points, but fell (6-1, 6-1).
On April 8, the Lady Hawks begin three matches in three days with the St. Francis (NY). First-serve starts at 1 p.m.
