UMES ATHLETICS ANNOUNCES NEW SWING & STRIKE CAMP

July 30, 2015

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Department of Athletics is debuting a new athletic camp that features two of the school's premier sports, golf and bowling. The camp, titled the 'UMES Swing & Strike Camp,' bills itself as a unique golf and bowling experience and will run August 10-12, 2015.

The camp is broken up into half day instruction of golf fundamentals in the morning and bowling fundamentals in the afternoon and runs three days. It is designed to give area youth a taste of both sports. Youth will spend two days learning the fundamentals of both sports. The third day is a round robin of activities where the participants will put their skills to the test to see what they have learned over the first two days.

After registration and check-in, attendees will spend a half day in the William P. Hytche Athletic Center, the Lexus Driving Range and the putting areas on campus, working on their golf fundamentals with head golf coach Marshall Cropper and instructor and former collegiate star Jamila Johnson.

After lunch, attendees will then head to the Sharon D. Brummell Lanes to work with head women's bowling coach Kayla Bandy on their bowling fundamentals.

On Wednesday, August 12, campers will compete in a round robin of activities in golf and bowling, testing what they learned over their first two days.

The camp is open to ages 7-17 and costs just $75.00 for all three days. It does not include lunch, but it can be purchased on site. Awards will also be presented on the last day.

Registration is open at www.umessportscamps.com. It can be completed online or the brochure can be printed out and returned via mail. For phone payments, call 410-621-3311 or with questions, call the athletic office at 410-651-6496.
