WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - In their first road test of the season, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Tennis dropped their nonconference matchup at Monmouth, 7-0.
With the setback, Maryland Eastern Shore goes to 0-3 overall while Monmouth improved to 4-8 on the season.
In singles play, sophomores Alese Brown (Charleston, S.C.) and DaTonya Price (Baltimore) were the lone Hawks to earn a point. All six Lady Hawks were swept in straight sets.
In doubles competition, Brown and senior Melequa King (Forestville, Md.) took a game from Monmouth's No. 1 team, Adriana Armendariz and Kendal Kauffman, before falling, 6-1.
Tomorrow (April 1), UMES heads to Baltimore where the Loyola (Md.) Greyhounds await. First-serve is 4 p.m.
