Women's Tennis Finishes Season With Loss To Coppin State

BALTIMORE - Coach Walter Woods and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Tennis Team wrapped up their 2016 campaign with a loss to in-state rival Coppin State, 6-0.

Today's match was record as nonconference matchup.

In singles play, each Lady Hawk was swept in straight sets. Newcomer Evelyn Chappell (Bowie, Md.) scored twice before falling to Coppin State's No .4 player Tanna Nita (6-1, 6-1).

In doubles competition, the Eagles were too much as they swept UMES in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).

With the setback, Maryland Eastern Shore finished the season 0-16.

Coach Woods and the Lady Hawks will have another year under their belt as they look to compete next year for a conference title.
