WASHINGTON - In their first of a nine-match road trip, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women's Tennis Team dropped its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest to Howard, 7-0.
With the setback, Maryland Eastern Shore dipped to 0-8 (0-3 MEAC) overall whereas the Lady Bison improved to 9-5 (5-1 MEAC) on the season.
For Howard, they were nearly flawless throughout the day. In doubles competition, the Lady Bison took both matches, 6-0.
In singles play, sophomore Alese Brown (Charleston, S.C.) served as the squad's No. 1 for the first time this season and picked up a game against Jessica Josiah before falling (6-1, 6-0). UMES' No. 2 through No. 5 players were defeated in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).
On April 10, the Lady Hawks will stay on the other side of the bridge where they will compete in two matches. Towson host Maryland Eastern Shore in the morning at 11:30 a.m. Then, UMES travels to Baltimore to face conference foe Morgan State at 4 p.m.
