Lancers Dash Past Hawks

March 17, 2017

Final Stats

FARMVILLE, Va. - After nearly two weeks away, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Women's Tennis team was unable to shake off the rust as they were defeated by the Longwood Lancers, 7-0, at H-SC Tennis Courts.

With the setback, Eastern Shore dropped to 0-4 on the season while the Lancers improved to 3-9 overall.

Longwood was nearly unblemished throughout the day, winning each doubles match, 6-0.

In singles play, Melequa King (Washington, D.C.) served as a Hawks' No. 1 player and took a point from the Lancers' Jamie Breunig; however, fell in straight sets (6-0, 6-1).

Longwood won the remaining singles match in consecutive sets without Eastern Shore scoring (6-0, 6-0), except the matchup between Alese Brown (Charleston, S.C.) and the Lancers' Paloma Alatorre where the South Carolina native was defeated by forfeit.

Tomorrow (March 18), Maryland Eastern Shore travels south to take on North Carolina Central. Match-time is slated for 1 p.m.
