Hampton Sinks Maryland Eastern Shore

HAMPTON, Va. - In their fourth match in five days, Coach Walter Woods and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Women's Tennis team fell on the road at Hampton (HU), 7-0.

With the loss, Eastern Shore dropped to 0-7 (0-3 MEAC) overall while the Lady Pirates improved to 5-2 (1-0 MEAC) on the season.

In singles play, junior DaTonya Price (Baltimore) entered the match as the squad's No. 2 player and scored a point against HU's Mariam Mitaishvili before falling in straight sets (6-0, 6-1).

Hampton won four other singles matches in consecutive sets (6-0, 6-0) while the Lady Pirates' Cherise Slocombe ended her contest early (6-0, 4-0).

In doubles competition, Hampton was too much as they won each match, 6-0.

On March 24, Maryland Eastern Shore continues its road swing in our Nation's Capital where the Howard Bison awaits. First-serve is set for 3 p.m.

The next day (March 25), Eastern Shore clashes with in-state foe Towson. Match-time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
